Mrs. Aikins died of chronic heart trouble Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Bowers of Winnett. Harriette Aikins was born in Muscatine Co., Iowa, on July 17, 1869, the daughter of J. Marvin and Matilda Fisher. She was united in marriage to Charles F. Aikins in Muscatine, Iowa, on Nov. 27, 1889. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Bowers, Mrs. Harry P. Hamilton of St. John, Wash., and Mrs. J. Peter P. Healy of Tacoma, Wash., formerly a resident of Roundup, and a son, C. Robert Aikins of Winnett; and three sisters, including Mrs. Stella Haurigan of Custer. OBITUARY: The Winnett Times 21 June 1935 DEATH CALLS PIONEER MELSTONE RESIDENT IN THIS CITY TUESDAY Beloved Woman Dies at Home of Daughter Here Mrs. Harriet F. Aikens died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Bowers, in this city early Tuesday morning after a lingering illness of several months. Funeral services and burial were held in Melstone Thursday afternoon where a large gathering of friends and relatives paid their final respects and she was laid to rest beside her husband who preceded her in death nearly five years ago. Obituary Harriet Fisher, daughter of James Marvin and Nancy Matilda Moore Fisher, was born in Cedar Valley, near West Liberty, Iowa, on July 17, 1869. On November 27, 1889, she was married to Charles F. Aikins of West Liberty and to them five children were born, one daughter, Vera, dying in young girlhood at their home in Iowa. In March of 1911, the family came to make their home near Melstone, Montana, where Mr. and Mrs. Ailins resided until the time of his death four and one-half years ago. Mrs. Aikins died in Winnett, Montana, June 18th, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Bowers, where she has resided for the past number of months. A daughter, Mrs. J. Peter P. Healy, of Tacoma, Washington, and the son, Charles Robert, were also with her at the time of her death. A daughter, Mrs. Harvey P. Hamilton, of St. John, Washington, was unable to be present. Nine grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. T. E. Haurigan of Custer, Montana, Mrs. D.E. MacGowan of Silsbee, Texas, and Mrs. C. E. Henderson of West Liberty, Iowa, besides a host of near and dear friends also survive. In her young womanhood, Mrs. Aikins became identified with the First Christian Church of West Liberty of which she had always remained a member. A faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, an ever helpful friend and neighbor, has passed on to her reward.
