Mr. Allen was raised in Perrysville, Indiana where he graduated high school. He was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a 747 Captain and Chief Pilot for American Airlines retiring at the age of 60 in 1980. He lived most of his life in Ft. Worth, TX, until moving to Tyler in 1991. Mr. Allen enjoyed gardening, neighborhood projects and traveling. His constant companion and very best friend was his beloved wife Harriet. Mrs. Allen grew up in Fountain County, Indiana and graduated from Attica High School. She then graduated from Lakeview Nurses Training as a registered nurse, dedicating over forty years of her career to the needs of others and their families. More importantly, she was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always put their needs above hers. She married in March 1989 and moved from Williamsport, IN to Hurst, TX. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Together with her beloved husband, they built their retirement home in Tyler. They were members of University Christian Church in Tyler. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Vera Foster; her brothers, Max Foster, Roy Newman Foster and Robert D. Foster and husband Robert L. Ford; Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Earl M. and Loraine Allen; his brothers, Robert and James Allen and wife Patty Dunton Allen. They are survived by their loving family including: children, Robert Dean Ford and wife Nancy of Greenhill, IN, Dennis J. Ford and wife Connie of LaPorte, IN, Penny Jane Ford Smith and husband Thomas of Covington, IN, Sheryl Allen Ford of Oregon, and Kathy Allen Johnson and husband Gary of Hurst; grandchildren, Brian Ford, Brad Ford, Scott Ford, Todd Ford, Matt Smith, Cara Smith, Erin Smith, LCDR Allen Ford of Patuxent NAS, Jarrett Ford and Jonathan Ford of California, Brandy Hudson and husband Andrew of Krum, TX, Gregory Johnson and wife Monica of Hurst; 14 great-grandchildren together; her sisters Nancy Allen and husband Jim and Martha Meyer and husband Virgil; and brother Wayne Foster and wife Janet; and his sister Mary Rector and husband Robert of Georgetown, Ill.
