Description	:	Harriett Alice Armstrong Hoover Vaughn Harriett Alice Vaughn was born in Johnson County, Iowa, on January 29, 1854, and passed away in Walnut, Iowa, August 18, 1918 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to David Hoover in 1869 in Johnson county, and came to Pottawattamie county in 1878 and settled on a farm one and a half miles southwest of Walnut. Read More	Harriett Alice Armstrong Hoover Vaughn Harriett Alice Vaughn was born in Johnson County, Iowa, on January 29, 1854, and passed away in Walnut, Iowa, August 18, 1918 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to David Hoover in 1869 in Johnson county, and came to Pottawattamie county in 1878 and settled on a farm one and a half miles southwest of Walnut. To this union were nine children, five of whom died while young. One daughter, Mrs. Ettie Boiler died eighteen years ago and Mrs. Vaughn raised the two youngest children, Frank and Charley, who are both in the Army at this time. She was married to Alfred Vaughn on November 30, 1897 at Avoca and continued to live on the farm until 12 years ago when they moved to Omaha, where they resided until about a year ago when they moved back to Walnut. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband; Alfred Vaughn, and three children, Mrs. Katie Waldo and Albert Hoover of Buchanan, Iowa, and James Hoover of this city, also thirteen grandchildren, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.W. Pfautz. Her remains were laid at rest in the Walnut cemetery. THE WALNUT BUREAU Thursday, August 22, 1918 WALNUT, Ia., Aug. 20 -- Mrs. Harriet Vaughn, wife of Alfred Vaughn, died at her home in this city Sunday morning after an illness of several years' duration. Deceased was sixty-four years old. Besides her husband Mrs. Vaughn is survived by three children by a former marriage, a married daughter and two sons, Albert Hoover, who is in the Army, and James Hoover, of this city. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. W.W. Pflatz, and burial was made in the Walnut cemetery.
