Widely known and highly thought of, her demise occasioned keen regret in the community and widespread sympathy for her brother now bereft of her companionship and left to carry on alone. Miss Goodeve had been in failing health for a year or longer. Brought to Lord Dufferin hospital on Thursday, October 22nd, she continued to lose strength rapidly and it was soon recognized that the inevitable dissolution was drawing near. A daughter of Henry Goodeve and Margaret Pendleton, Miss Goodeve was born and had always lived on the homestead farm, lot 16, con. 1, Adjala. Cheery, vivacious and sympathetically interested in the people and affairs of her home district, she had made a large number of warm friends. She was a member of St. James Anglican church, Hockley, and in earlier life had been an active worker in the Women's Guild of her church. Her demise is mourned by a brother, Thomas Goodeve, at one time Reeve of Adjala township and for a number of years Roads Superintendent of that municipality. Another brother, Albert, died in early life. The remains rested at the Orangeville Funeral Home, Mill St., until Monday, when they were conveyed to St. John's Church, 7th Line, Mono, where a public service was held at 3 o'clock. The large attendance at this service was an impressive tribute to the regard for Miss Goodeve and her brother. The service was taken by Rev. H. N. W. Bracken, rector of Mono East Parish. Pallbearers were Messrs. Lindsay Irwin, Earl Wilson, Elgin Fleming, Wilfrid Reany, Fred Baxter and Joseph Beatty. The flowerbearers were Marion Wilson, Jean Fleming, Mervin Fleming and Wilmer Palmer. Lovely floral tributes were received from: The Brother, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Goodeve and Waneita, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wilson (Mono Mills), Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baxter, St. James' Church and St. James' Church Guild.
