HATTIE HENNINGER The funeral service for Mrs. Hattie Henninger was held in Jewell Sunday amid surroundings, relatives, and friends which in life were her greatest comfort and enjoyment. Mrs. Henninger's death occurred in Topeka on Friday, following a short but severe illness. The Methodist church in Jewell was made beautiful with many flowers as friends from far and near came to show their appreciation of one whose life had been so generously spent in upbuilding of home and community. Her sons, Guy, of Mankato, and Paul, of Norfolk, Nebr., and their families were present as well her nieces, Mrs. R. I. Monroe, of South Bend, Nebr., and Mrs. J.D. Bast, of Brunswick, MO., and their families. Two sisters, Mrs. C.C. Whitney and Mrs. C. W. Medcalf, live in Jewell, and another sister, Mrs A. Harron, lives in Yakima, Wash. Mrs. Harron could not be present. The Rev. C. B. Zook, of Topeka, and the Rev. C. Cray Jones, of Jewell church, conducted the service. Music was by the Methodist choir. Burial was at the Wallace cemetery. JEWELL COUNTY REPUBLICAN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 1933, PAGE 5; OBITUARY MRS. HATTIE J. HENNINGER Mrs. Hattie J. Henninger was born August 13, 1868 at Loganton, Clinton County, Pa. her parents, Thomas and Rebecca Karstetter, together with Roland, Harry and Maggie Karstetter, and Mrs. J.C. Perfect are deceased. Those remaining of her family are Mrs. C.C. Whitney, Mrs. Della Medcalf, of Jewell City, and Mrs. Lola Harron of Yakima, Washington. She was united in marriage to Reuben Henninger, at Jewell, Kansas, August 28, 1886, and Mr. Henninger passed away August 29, 1915. There are two sons, Guy Henninger of Mankato, and Paul Henninger of Norfolk, Nebraska. Mrs. Henninger was converted at 14 years of age and has been in active and effective fellowship all through the years as a Sunday school teacher and in the various societies of the church. The value of her service into the Kingdom could only be estimated by those in closest fellowship with her. She was a faithful and devout follower of her Saviour and she has been a long-time resident of Jewell, loved and respected by a wide circle of friends and neighbors. She came to the Methodist Home October 7, 1929, where she remained until she passed on August 25, 1933. In the home she was a favorite among the entire family, all of whom together with the children and sisters above mentioned deeply mourn their loss.
