Description	:	A delayed birth certificate was recorded for Harrison in the Kingsbury Co. Court House in De Smet, SD on March 14, 1940, sworn on the 12th. Harrison attended country schools and attended Hetland High School for 2 years. (There was only a two year high school at this time.) Harrison enlisted in the army during World War I and left for Camp Lee, VA, June 1, 1918. He left the U.S. for France July 24, 1918, and worked with cavalry horses under a veterinarian. He contracted flu and was in the hospital much of the time. ... Read More	A delayed birth certificate was recorded for Harrison in the Kingsbury Co. Harrison enlisted in the army during World War I and left for Camp Lee, VA, June 1, 1918. He left the U.S. for France July 24, 1918, and worked with cavalry horses under a veterinarian. He contracted flu and was in the hospital much of the time. The hospital he was in was bombed mistakenly by Allied forces. He returned to the U.S. on March 19, 1919, and was discharged April 19, 1919. Harrison did office work in Sioux Falls before returning to the family farm. He belonged to the American Legion in Hetland. Harrison worked in a factory in Chicago during W W II. He farmed his mother's farm after returning home. Harrison was a quiet man, but provided several simple things to add delight to the life of his nieces and nephews: a tall bicycle to ride around the block, a thick book he used in his service in W W I to care for the horses, a set of oil paints, a few Indian arrow heads He was buried September 29th in the Hetland Cemetery.
