[Information provided by Jo (#46911991)] Harry Brown Ashburn was born in Omaha, Nebraska June 21, 1875 and departed this life at Alliance, Nebraska October 22, 1942. He was the son of D.P. and Emily Ashburn who were members of the Soldiers Free Homestead Colony that settled in Gibbon in 1871. He was united in marriage to Emma Keschler of Shelton, Nebraska June 1, 1907. To them were born 2 sons: Joseph Nelson and Neil Prosser, both of Gibbon. He graduated from the Gibbon School in 1890. He spent 1893 with his father in Chicago with the Nebraska Dairy Exhibit at the World's Fair. With the exception of 5 years spent as the manager of a lumber yard in North Dakota, he spent his entire life in Nebraska. He joined with his brother, J. N. Ashburn in the milling business in Gibbon in 1915 and continued in the operation until the time of it's closing a little more than a year ago. In June 1942 he went to Alliance where he entered the employ of the Federal Government at the Air Base and while at his post of duty there, death overtook him. He leaves his wife, his 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 1 brother and sister: J. N. Ashburn; Glendale, California Mrs. Cora Overton; Wallace, Nebraska Services were conducted from the Presbyterian Church by Dr. George E. Chapman. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
