On August 2, 1862 he married at Warren, Ohio Emily A. Brown. They were parents of seven children, five surviving. On August 2, 1862 he married at Warren, Ohio Emily A. Brown. They were parents of seven children, five surviving. Mr. Ashburn and family came from Trumble County, Ohio to Nebraska in an emigrant car, arriving at Gibbon siding April 6, 1871, being a member of the Soldiers Free Homestead Colony. He donated the original site for Riverside Cemetery and built and operated the first grain elevator in Gibbon. He served four years as postmaster. Walter Scott Hayden (Deciple Church); Marriage license has the 3rd in Trumbull County, Ohio Dillon married Anna May (Woodruff) Stanley July 6, 1907, in Kearney, Buffalo, Nebraska. [She had married Edward J. "Eddie" Stanley November 12, 1881, in Cook County, Illinois. She and Edward had a daughter, Hazel Woodruff (Stanley) Michener. The marriage ended in divorce.] Dillon and Anna divorced Wednesday, March 4, 1914. Anna passed away September 28, 1929 in Llanerch, Delaware, Pennsylvania. There is an article in the Kearney Daily Hub, Tuesday, May 09, 1916; Page: 2 "Married at Gibbon. Dillon P. Ashburn and Mrs. Lucy C. Ware were issued a marriage license by the county Judge late Monday. They are to be married at Gibbon. At the present time both the prospective bride and groom are residents of Downs, Kan. Mr. Ashburn is the son of the proprietor of tho Gibbon Mills."
