Description	:	Harry Edward Hoff was born on October 21, 1885, in Eckley, Colorado. His father, Christian, was 29 and his mother, Emma Gren, was 25. In 1910, he was living in Wauneta Nebraska. His parents moved to Wauneta when he was quite young and here he made his home except for brief stays in St. Francis and Phillipsburg, Kansas. Read More	Harry Edward Hoff was born on October 21, 1885, in Eckley, Colorado. His father, Christian, was 29 and his mother, Emma Gren, was 25. In 1910, he was living in Wauneta Nebraska. His parents moved to Wauneta when he was quite young and here he made his home except for brief stays in St. Francis and Phillipsburg, Kansas. Harry worked on the railroad for several years to earn money to go to college to earn a degree in business accounting. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Hanna, June 25, 1919 and to this union was born two children, Edra May Wilcox and Dwight Hoff. Preceding him in death were one sister, Mrs. George McGooden in 1925 and one brother, Arlan Hoff, in 1936. Surviving him are his widow, children and four grandchildren, Ricky Wilcox, Susan Hoff, Karl Hoff, Lynne Hoff all of Wauneta; brother Amil Hoff of Wauneta, and sister Mabel Engeborg Hoff (Mrs. S.B. Thomas) of Lincoln. Following his marriage, Mr. Hoff worked in the Equity in Wauneta as a bookkeeper and on the railroad, then moved his family to St. Francis Kansas where he was employed as a bookkeeper for the Equity Exchange. In 1937 the family made their home in Philipsburg, Kansas where he was employed as a bookkeeper and for a while he served in the courthouse. Returning to Wauneta in 1942, Mr. Hoff wa employed in the ice plant as a bookkeeper, moving into the City Hall when Harve Athey sold the plant to the city. He was also an active member of IOOF. He inherited his love of the beautiful from his parents, his father, a native of Christiana Norway and his mother from Edinburgh, Sweden. The garden surrounding their home is evidence of the fact. Memories, being what they are, there will be fond ones in the minds of his children and grandchildren of the fishing trips and picnics he accompanied them on. Waunetans will remember his fine sense of humor and quiet devotion to him and job for many years to come, as Harry Hoff occupied a special place in the hearts and minds of the town.
