Nace was born near Victor, Iowa, on June 24, 1877, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Refer, on July 26, 1929, aged 52 years, 1 month and 2 days. He was the son of Wm. K. and Sarah Nace and grew to manhood in the community, engaging in farming. On June 23, 1901, he was married to Miss Mabel Stauffer, who died on March 29, 1903. One child, Wynona, was born to this union. After the death of his beloved wife he and his baby daughter made their home with his parents until their death. Mr. Nace passing away on April 29, 1918, and Mrs. Nace on Feb. 11, 1924. Since that time Mr. Nace made his home in Victor and the last years were spent with his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Refer and family. Besides his daughter and two grandson, he is survived by two brothers, George and Frank, both of Victor; his sisters, Mrs. Cora Sheridan and Mrs. Allen Harrier, preceding him in death. Although Mr. Nace was not a member of any church he read his Bible in his home and was an honest, trustworthy man. Mr. Nace was a member of the K. of P. lodge. For the past few years he has been a constant sufferer, but through it all he never gave up and was on the streets just the day before his death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Supplee of Ladora Sunday afternoon at the Victor M. E. church, with interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
