Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE), Thursday, December 12, 1968; pg. 3 Obituary, Harry Stevens — Harry Stevens, son of Alfred and Alice Stevens, was born on June 18, 1883 at Brainerd, Minn., and departed this life at Hastings on Friday, Dec 6, 1968 at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Mary Ely on Nov. 5, 1915. To this union five children were born. Mr. Stevens came to this community as a young man. For about 30 years he was a grain buyer for the Nebraska-Iowa Grain Co in Sutton; later known as Simon-Shields. He retired from this occupation 20 years ago and continued to make his home in Sutton until the time of his passing. He was a past member of the local Order of I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 53. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a daughter, Zelma. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a daughter, Iris, Mrs. Gerhardt Wiard of Sutton; three sons, Merle and Cleo of Sutton and James of Ada, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; other relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving father and husband and a business man who enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Rev. Walter E. Bailey of the Sutton Federated Church officiated at services at the Kohler Chapel Monday afternoon, Dec. 9. Mrs. Walter Maser was pianist and Mrs. Don Syring and Mrs. Gene Bauer sang "The Twenty-Third Psalm" and "Beyond the Sunset." Bearers were Arthur Kessler Jr., Wesley Salmen, Floyd Ely, LeRoy Cronin, Earl Ely Sr. and Milton Ely. Interment was in the Sutton cemetery (sic).
