Harrington was born Jan. 20, 1920, to Harvey Dale, Sr. and Avis (Bacon) Harrington at Kersey, CO. He attended elementary school at Kersey and at Delta School near Greeley, CO.He graduated from College High School in Greeley, farmed with his father during high school and joined the army in 1942, serving during World War II. He trained troops stateside until late in World War II and served in the European Theater until being taken prisoner.He was discharged in December 1945 and returned to Greeley to attend the University of Northern Colorado, earning his bachelor and masters degrees. On Dec. 5, 1946 he was married to Luberta Hinze at Gothenburg.From 1950 to his retirement in 1985, he taught at Northern State University in the business department where he was awarded the honor of Professor Emeritus, Department of Business Administration.He had continued his education at the University of North Dakota in 1971, earning his Doctorate of Philosophy.In addition to his teaching, he was a licensed real estate broker and was certified to teach real estate law in North and South Dakota. Survivors include his wife, Luberta; one son, Harvey Allen Harrington of Rapid City, SD; two daughters, Phyllis Dale Schiwal of Douglasville, GA and L. Ann Christianson of Pierre, SD; two sisters, Lucille Carpenter of Thatcher, AZ and Lillian Nicks of Greeley, CO; and six grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and one brother.
