Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where an American Legion service will be at 7 p.m. Harvey retired from John Deere Dubuque Works in 1988, after 30 years of service. He remained active on the farm until his illness prevented him from doing so. He was born Sept. 10, 1933, in North Buena Vista, son of Fritz and Hilda (Tschirgi) Brimeyer. He married Shirley Breitbach on Jan. 11, 1958, in North Buena Vista. Harvey was an Army veteran serving in France during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Guttenberg Knights of Columbus, Millville AmVets and UAW Local 94. Socializing with family and friends is what Harvey enjoyed the most. Each of his children and grandchildren felt they were his favorite, as he would say, "I want a dozen more "\| just like you!" He had a talent for telling great stories, with a knack for making those around him laugh. Whether he was on the farm, playing euchre or driving around the countryside delivering watercress, when asked, "How are you?" his reply was always, "Good!" He enjoyed his weekly lunches with his brothers, sisters and friends. He had an appreciation for nature and conservation while spending his spare time gardening and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Christine Ross, of Holy Cross, Pam (Sam) Steffen, of Luxemburg, and Sue (Bill) Scherbring, of Manchester; three sons, Jeff (Donna) Brimeyer, of North Liberty, Doug (Jan) Brimeyer, of Jackson, Wyo., and Fred (Judy) Brimeyer, of North Buena Vista; a daughter-in-law, Maritza (Max) Brimeyer Quezada, 16 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four sisters, Stella (Matt) Hefel, of Holy Cross, Mildred (Norb) Tressel, of Dubuque, Carol (Rex) Ellsworth, of Caro, Mich., and Laura (Leon) Sigwarth, of Holy Cross; two brothers, Greg (Carol) Brimeyer, of Dyersville, and Earl (LaVonne) Brimeyer, of Holy Cross; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginny Brimeyer, of La- Vista, Neb., Anna Marie Jestel, of Davenport, Doris Whelan, of Dubuque, Dave (Mary Lynne) Breitbach, of North Buena Vista, Mary (Don) Ludovissy, of Holy Cross, and Mary Lou Breitbach, of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul H. Brimeyer; three brothers, Robert O., Alvin and Nick (Verna) Brimeyer; a sister, Selma (Bill) Boyce; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, James Breitbach, Pat (Ruthie) Breitbach, Don Jestel and Bob Whelan.
