John Neff died in Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan, on Jan. 8, 1914. (See the memorial for John Neff, who is buried in the Calvary Cemetery, in Niles, Berrien County Michigan, on find-a-grave). ------------------------------- Harvey graduated from Buchanan High School and he was the Vice President of his Senior class of 1928. He was also the "sports editor" for the 1928 yearbook staff. Harvey was also the Captain of the football team. ------------------------------- Harvey was married to Josephine Mary Yurkovic, the daughter of Thomas O. Yurkovic and his wife Barbara M. Staniczak, on Sept. 27, 1938 in Three Oaks, Berrien County Michigan. -------------------------------- They lived in the Buchanan, Michigan area for many years, where Harvey worked in the service department of Kennedy Motors. ------------------------------- Harvey and his family were members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Buchanan, Michigan. -------------------------------- In 1965 Harvey moved his family to Manteca, California. They lived there for 14 years, while Harvey worked for Tradeway Chevrolet Company, until ill health forced an early retirement. ------------------------------ In 1986, they moved to Oroville, California. ------------------------------- They later moved to Chico, California in 1992 (the year before Harvey died). Harvey died at the age of ("almost") 83 (per: his death certificate). ----------------------------- Harvey and Josephine had seven children, three girls and four boys. ------------------------------- Harvey is buried in Section D, Lot 109, with his wife, and son David Lee Letcher. ------------------------------- Obituaries for Harvey J. Letcher were published in the "South Bend Tribune" newspaper in South Bend, IN on June 16, 1993, and in the "Niles Daily Star", newspaper in Niles, Michigan on Wednesday, June 16, 1993, page 2. The last one, reads as follows: ------------------ Harvey J. Letcher 1901 [Should say 1910]- 1993 Former Kennedy Motors employee. A Memorial mass for Harvey James Letcher will we today at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chico, Calif. Graveside services wil be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan, [MI] with Father Joseph Weller, of St. Anthony Catholic Church officiating. Letcher died Thursday at his home in Chico, [CA]. Born Oct. 20, 1910, in Naperville, Ill., he attended school in Buchanan and worked at various jobs in the area. In 1938, in Buchanan, [MI] he married the former Josephine Yurkovic, who survives. He worked at Kennedy Motors in Buchanan in the service department until moving to Manteca, Calif., in 1965. The couple made their home there for 14 years at which time he worked for Tradeway Chevrolet Co., until ill health forced an early retirement. They moved to Oroville, Calif., in 1986, and moved to Chico, [CA] last year. Other survivors include three sons, Richard Letcher of Decatur, [MI], Don Letcher of Applegate, Calif., and Dennis Letcher of Chico, [CA]: three daughters, Janet Harper of Phoenix, Ariz., Joyce Letcher of San Diego, Calif., and Jaclyn Goodrich of Vancouver, Wash.: two grandchildren: a brother, Robert Letcher of Buchanan, [MI] and a sister, Lillian Vaselin of South Bend, [IN]. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the Brusie Funeral Home in Chico.
