Jones and they came to Nebraska in 1897. Nine children were born to this union, three of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by six children, Mrs. Ruth Grossman, Mrs. Nellie Elye and Robert Jones of Edgar; Mattie of St. Joseph, Missouri; Ralph of Grand Island and Leslie of Grand Island. Anderton was born September 13, 1865, in Morgan County, Illinois. She was married in 1881 to John W. Jones and they came to Nebraska in 1897. Nine children were born to this union, three of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by six children, Mrs. Ruth Grossman, Mrs. Nellie Elye and Robert Jones of Edgar; Mattie of St. Joseph, Missouri; Ralph of Grand Island and Leslie of Grand Island. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, W. T. Anderton, of Edgar; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Pahl of Oakland, California, and Mrs. Carrie Eby of Portland, Oregon, other relatives and a host of friends. She departed this life on March 12, 1945, at the age of 79 years, five months and 29 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Grossman, with whom she made her home since the death of her husband twelve years ago. She had been a long-time member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Edgar Methodist Church, Wednesday, March 14, 1945, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. S. W. Longacre in charge. Mrs. L. B. Dalton and Mrs. E. J. Mort sang "Sweetly Resting," "In the Garden" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." Mrs. Lydia Phelps was at the piano. Pallbearers were: Gaylord Hiddleson, Ralph, Robert, Clyde, John and Rex Jones. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. Contributor: Jan Plambeck (46975511) • [email protected]
