Read More	ESTEEMED CRISFIELD MATRON SUCCUMBS Mrs. Hattie Frances Betts Died In Local Hospital FUNERAL SERVICES LARGELY ATTENDED Mrs. Hattie Frances Betts, highly respected and esteemed local citizen, succumbed at the McCready Memorial Hospital, this city, on Sunday morning last, after an illness of some time. The daughter of the late Isaac Sterling and Lucy Bradshaw Sterling, both of whom were from well-known pioneer families, Mrs. Betts was sixty-six years of age. She was the wife of Levin Betts, prominent local businessman. A sweet, lovable lady, who possessed many sterling and endearing traits of character, Mrs. Betts had an ever widening circle of friends, whose hearts have been made heavy with the burden of sorrow they bear in the loss of one so near and dear to them; in the loss of a true friend, whom they loved dearly. Mrs. Betts' entire life and existence was wrapped around her home and her church, both of which she loved with all her heart. She took the greatest delight in having a cozy, comfortable place for her husband and children to call home and was more than successful in this endeavor. For many, many years she was a faithful member of the Mariner's Methodist Church and as long as her health permitted she rarely ever missed a service in that institution which she loved so well. Willing at all times to do everything possible for the ongoing of her church and its great work, Mrs. Betts will be sadly missed by members of Mariner's. From Mariner's Methodist Church, with a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends in attendance, funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon of this week at 2.30 o'clock. Amid a profusion of lovely flowers, tributes from friends which gave silent testimony of the high esteem in which she was held, the pastor of this fine little church, Rev. R. H. Wilson, assisted by Rev. W. C. Mumford, a former pastor, spoke the final words over this beloved member. Pall-bearers were Charles Howeth, Winter Swift, Earl Beck, Arthur Ward, Eugene Sterling and Junior Bonomo. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park cemetery. Besides her husband Mrs. Betts is survived by three children, Norris Betts, Emerson Betts and Mrs. Noland Ward, all of Crisfield. Two sisters, Mrs. Cevia Howard, of Westover and Mrs. Marion Beck, of Crisfield, and one brother, Eugene Sterling, of Mariners, also survive.
