Description	:	Source: The Victor Record 12/26/1918 Havil Hart Havil Hart was born in New Jersey January 3, 1847, and passed out of this life at his home two and one-half miles southeast of Victor, Iowa December 15, 1918, aged 71 years, 11 months and 12 days. He came to Iowa in 1867 and soon after purchased the farm where he has since made his home. He came to Iowa in 1867 and soon after purchased the farm where he has since made his home. He was married to Caroline Carey on December 30, 1875, to which union was born six children: Mrs. Frank Henry, of Belle Plaine, Iowa; Walter, of Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Charles Walters, of Des Moines, Iowa; Logan, of Long Lake, Neb.; Mrs. James McCann, of Grinnell, Iowa; Ben, who lives on the home place. Mr. Hart was converted in early life and became a member of the Methodist Protestant church, of which church he has been a faithful member all his life. He was an excellent husband and father, and as a neighbor and friend was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Mr. Hart had been in failing health for about two years, but was patient and uncomplaining through it all. He leaves to mourn his loss, beside the wife and children above mentioned, eleven grandchildren and other relatives and a wide circle of life-long friends. Funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday afternoon, December 18, 1918, by Rev. R. Vernon Pike, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, and interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor, Iowa.
