Mrs. Charles Carbone Passes to Her Reward After Short Illness Death brought sorrow into the happy home of Charles L. Carbone, well known Napa business man, when his beloved wife, Hazel Dawn Carbone, was taken by death at 3:05 o'clock yesterday afternoon at a local hospital. The death of Mrs. Carbone resulted from an attack of influenza three weeks ago which developed into pneumonia. As her condition became more serious, she was removed from the Carbone residence on Second street to the hospital. The deceased was one of the best known residents of this city and was possessed of many friends here and in the up-valley. Hazel Dawn Carbone was born in Yountville on November 17, 1889, and spent her entire life in this county. She was raised to young womanhood at the family home in Yountville and about 12 years ago was claimed in marriage by Charles L. Carbone of Napa. She had resided in this city continuously since that time. Deceased was prominent in social circles of this city and was a Past President of the Native Daughters, a member of the Napa Grange, Druids, and Women of Mooseheart Legion. She was also a member of the Presbytherian Church of this city. She is survived by her grief-stricken husband and one son, Charles Carbone, Jr., aged 11 years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Casaday of Yountville, and the following brothers and sisters, all residents of Napa County, also survive: Grace and Mable Casaday, and Mrs. Mamie Bowser, and John and Lloyd Casaday. The remains are at the faintly home in Yountville from whence funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock under the direction of the Webber Funeral Parlors. Interment will be in the Yountville Cemetery. - The Napa Daily Register (December 22, 1928) DEATH'S ANGEL The Angel of Death was in our midst yesterday afternoon and claimed the life of one of our most beloved and esteemed residents when Mrs. Hazel Dawn Carbone was taken from our midst. A life-long resident of Napa County and possessed of an alluring and attractive personality, the deceased is today mourned besides her esteemed family, by a wide circle of sorrowing friends. The sympathy of not alone these many friends but of the entire community will be with the members of the family who had expected to enjoy a merry Christmas season but who instead are plunged into sorrow at the passing of their loved one. - The Napa Journal (December 22, 1928) Services Monday For Late Mrs. Carbone Funeral services for the late Mrs. Charles Carbone will be held from the family home at Yountville on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Yountville cemetery under the direction of the Webber Funeral Parlors. - The Napa Journal (December 23, 1928) Many Friends at Last Services For Late Mrs. Carbone Simple but impressive rites for the late Mrs. Charles Carbone were held yesterday afternoon at the family residence in Yountville, with relatives and a large number of sorrowing friends in attendance. Rev. A. O. Walker and Rev. Josiah Daniel officiated Music during the service was rendered by vocalists under the direction of Mrs. Will Butler. The pallbearers were Thomas C. Anglim, Otto Hencke, William Ezettie, Samuel J. Webber, Chet Vlney and Joseph Tonascia. Interment was made in the Yountville Cemetery. The Webber Funeral Parlors were in charge of the arrangements. - The Napa Journal (December 25, 1928)
