I and my husband live on our farm in Northern California. I am a descendent of a long line of farmers and pioneers. My father, Robert J. Ramsey Jr., is a farmer in this same area as was his father, Robert J. Ramsey. My great grandfather was Robert R. Ramsey who came from Scotland and fought in the Civil War.He married my great grandmother, Nellie Casaday. Mr. Ramsey, as he is called by my father, built the family house in Yountville on the corner of Monroe and Jefferson. I used to love to play in the huge yard when I was a little girl. There are now three houses built where the yard once was. We would go there to visit my two great, great aunts, Grace Casaday and Mabel Frost. Nellie Casaday was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Casaday who, along with his parents Ruben and Eliza Casaday, crossed over the trails to California by covered wagon in 1853. Nellie's mother was Lydia M. Green. Her parents also came from Missouri to California by covered wagon in 1846. Lydia's parents were John D. Green and Lydia Hitchcock Green. In a family letter, it is written that Lydia was the first "white" baby born in Stockton, CA Lydia M. Green was first married to Andrew Jackson Casaday. They had at least five children. After Andrew passed away in 1881, Lydia married Andrew's much younger brother by 17 years, David Albert Casaday and had at least three more children. "Mabel Claire Frost Mabel Claire Frost, 87, died Wednesday at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Vallejo. She was born in Salinas Valley Oct. 29, 1895, to Robert and Lydia Greene Casaday. She moved to Yountville at an early age and was reared and educated there. She worked for the Veterans Home of California for several years and later worked at Napa State Hospital for 37 years. She retired as a matron-supervisor in 1955. Mrs. Frost was a member of St. Helena Chapter 274 O.E.S., a retired member of California State Employees Association Chapter 27, Retired Public Employees Association of California, Napa Parlor Native Daughters of the Golden West and a board member of Yountville Cemetery Association. She is survived by one stepson, Waldo Frost of Portola; one stepdaughter, Glenna Morea of San Francisco; one niece and three nephews; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren as well as numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Her husband, Magner Frost, predeceased her. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William McCord officiating at the chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa. Interment will be in Yountville Cemetery." - Napa Register (September 1, 1983) A book of Board Meeting Minutes from the George C. Yount Cemetery from July 1894 - January 1960, has provided some new information: "Lot holders" were allowed to attend meetings and vote. In May 1939 - She was present as a lot holder and then was elected onto the Board of Trustees May 1953 - Present at the meeting as a trustee July 20, 1958 - Listed as Treasurer January 20, 1959 - Present at the meeting as a board member January 1960 - Present at the meeting
