Ash St. died at 3:54 a.m. July 23, 1985, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born June 14, 1893, at Agency to Charles E. and Mary B. Connelly Johnson. A resident of Wapello County all her life, she was a 1915 graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College and was a charter member of Omega Chapter Phi Mu Sorority of Iowa Wesleyan. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the church's Truth Circle, and the Unity Home Culture Club. She married Laurence M. Truitt on June 14, 1916, at Agency. He died Dec. 12, 1971. She is survived by a daughter, Mary T. Whorton of Ottumwa; a son, Carroll J. Truitt of Ottumwa; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Laurence Garrett of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Agency Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David and Paul Truitt, Rick Doran, Clell Johnson, Harry Green and Richard Willhoit. A memorial has been established to her church.
