She was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Indiana to the late Walker Anders and Ella Mae Morton Anders. Survivors include a son and spouse, Milton and Barbara Hicks of Independence; sister and spouse, Juanita Ruth and Olen Shaffer of Churchville, Md.; God-daughter, Brooke Nelson of Independence; two grandsons, Timothy Hicks and Marcus Hicks, two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Hicks and Landyn Hicks; half-brothers and spouses, Larry and Nancy Anders, Gale and Emma Lee Anders, Tommy and Roxanne... Survivors include a son and spouse, Milton and Barbara Hicks of Independence; sister and spouse, Juanita Ruth and Olen Shaffer of Churchville, Md.; God-daughter, Brooke Nelson of Independence; two grandsons, Timothy Hicks and Marcus Hicks, two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Hicks and Landyn Hicks; half-brothers and spouses, Larry and Nancy Anders, Gale and Emma Lee Anders, Tommy and Roxanne Anders and Jimmy Anders, all of Independence; half-sister, Marian Polaco of Sparta, N.C.; two brothers-in-law and spouse, Randolph Wright of Galax and Grayson and Joyce Wright of Christiansbirg, Va.; sister-in-law, Lela Wright of Independence; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Independence Church of God of Prophecy with interment in Independence Cemetery, Independence, Va. The Rev. Ronnie Brewer and the Rev. Doug Stuart officiated. Memorial contributions can be made to Independence Church of God of Prophecy, c/o The Rev. Ronnie Brewer, 2525 Cranberry Road, Woodlawn, Va. 24381.
