Description	:	Hazel Shubin Rudometkin March 5, 1912 - February 3, 2012 The most kind and generous mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes at Home Sweet Home in Daly City, California, her granddaughter Marcia at her bedside. She was born in Russia to Sam and Mary Shubin, the oldest of four daughters and five sons. The Shubin family immigrated to America in 1913 and lived in northern California and Bonanza, Oregon before settling permanently in San Francisco in 1923. She was born in Russia to Sam and Mary Shubin, the oldest of four daughters and five sons. The Shubin family immigrated to America in 1913 and lived in northern California and Bonanza, Oregon before settling permanently in San Francisco in 1923. Hazel attended and graduated from Daniel Webster Grammar School. In 1929, she married Nick John Rudometkin in the First Russian Molokan Church, and they resided for the rest of their lives on Potrero Hill, raising their family of four: Nick, Jr. who died in infancy, Dorothy, Mary Ann who died in 2009 and John. She is survived by her sisters Ann Shubin and Vera Kazakoff, ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Hazel was a lifelong member of her church and served many years in the Women's Circle. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and was a real competitor at checkers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing the harmonica, and writing poems. She and her husband spent many years together trout fishing and deer hunting in the Sierras. Even in her last years, she remained adept in spelling and math. A widow in 1985, she lived independently in her home until 2010 when old age dementia required full time care. Visitation hours are 4-9 pm on Saturday, February 11 at the First Russian Molokan Church, 841 Carolina Street, San Francisco, California. Funeral services will begin at 10 am, February 12 at the church. Burial will be at the Russian Sectarian Cemetery, South San Francisco, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women's Circle, 841 Carolina Street, San Francisco, California 94107. She is one of eight known children: Mike, James, Hazel, Anna, Mary, William, Vera, and Walter. The 1930 U.S. Federal Census shows the family living at 2112B - 22nd Street on Potrero Hill in San Francisco, CA. Her father worked in the steel yard and her mother worked in a junkshop. She married Nick John Rudometkin Sr. (1905-1985) on 27 Apr 1930 in San Francisco, CA. At the time of their wedding, Nick was a carpenter and Hazel was not working.
