Reeg conducted funeral services and interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery (sic) near Byron. ========================================= The Deshler Rustler (Deshler, NE), Wednesday, October 6, 1954; pg. 5 Obituary Of Heinrich Christoph Mohrmann Heinrich Christoph, youngest of six children born to Friedrich Mohrmann and Ma (sic) Maria Hoops, was born on August 10, 1863, at Schwalingen in Hanover, Germany. Early in infancy, he was baptized in the local Lutheran Church. When he was 4 years old, his recently widowed mother emigrated to America with her remaining 3 children. They stayed at Davenport, Iowa, for a year and then moved to Nemaha County, Nebraska. Here the departed grew to manhood. He was instructed in the doctrines of Christian faith and life and on April 6, 1879, renewed his baptismal vow through confirmation in St. John's Lutheran Church near Auburn, Nebr., of which J.H. Dirks was pastor at that time. In 1892 the departed moved west to Franklin County near Macon, Nebr. It was here that he met and married Anna Maria Kruse. They were united in this bond which lasted nearly 60 years by Pastor George Jansen on April 26, 1895. This union was blessed with 11 children. In 1909 they moved here to the Byron vicinity and lived on several farms before retiring in 1935. Mr. Mohrmann was permitted to live a rich and full life. His faithful wife waited on him at all times when he was troubled with asthma and related ailments. He saw all his children grown and established in their own families; all, except the youngest, who died on June 2, 1920, at the age of 10 months. He outlived his close friends of this community. He was the last of his generation. Two years ago he submitted to surgery and recovered to the extent that he could be about in town and occasionally in church with the congregation. The normal functions of his aging body, however, were so weakened, that it was necessary to have him enter a hospital again. He was taken to a Beatrice hospital on Sept. 4. An operation was performed 3 weeks ago, and it seemed as though he would be able to return home again. Beginning with Thursday, Sept. 23, his strength continued to wane and early Sunday morning, Sept. 26, 1954, his end came. He reach the unusual age of 91 years, 1 month, and 16 days. His immediate living relatives are his wife, Anna; his ten children: Marie (Mrs. Roy Dankenbring) of Bird City, Kans.; Fred of Byron; Meta (Mrs. Alvin Grueber of Byron; Anna (Mrs. Walter Grueber) of Byron; John of Deshler; Martha (Mrs. Louis Fangmeyer) of Byron; Carl of Byron; Herman of Byron; Louise (Mrs. Edwin Dittmer) of Byron; and Elsie (Mrs. Otto Paul) of Byron. The youngest daughter, Edna, preceded him. There remain also 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and other more distant relatives. Funeral services were held on September 29 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Byron, with Pastor O. Reeg officiating. Pastor Reeg based his message on Acts 2, 26 and Psalm 116,15. The congregation sand the hymns, "Why Should I Repine In Sadness" and "Jerusalem The Golden".
