Description	:	OBITUARY: Adolph Henry Christopher Harms, son of Conrad and Johanna Erbst Harms, was born on a farm near Auburn, Ne. on July 7, 1889. He was one of nine children; his brothers and siters being Sophia, Herman, Julia, Conrad, Otto, Helen, Alma and Walter. He was baptized on August 4, 1889 and later received his confirmation at St. Paul's Lutheran (Hickory Grove)Church on April 19, 1903. Read More	OBITUARY: Adolph Henry Christopher Harms, son of Conrad and Johanna Erbst Harms, was born on a farm near Auburn, Ne. on July 7, 1889. He was one of nine children; his brothers and siters being Sophia, Herman, Julia, Conrad, Otto, Helen, Alma and Walter. He was baptized on August 4, 1889 and later received his confirmation at St. Paul's Lutheran (Hickory Grove)Church on April 19, 1903. He received his education at the Grand Prairie Rural School and grew to young manhood in this same community where he was born. On December 26, 1915, Adolph was united in marriage with Sophia Lina Oestmann, to this union five children were born, three of them preceding their father in death; Willis Laverne, Helene Louise, and Vincent Conrad. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Harms spent 29 years in the Auburn and Johnson communities and then moved out near Bayard, Nebraska. where they were to live for the next 31 years. In 1968 they moved back to Johnson where he was to live the rest of his life. After moving back to Johnson. He transferred his church membership to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. As a young man, Adolph was active in sports. He pitched baseball in the league around Auburn for several years. He later became interested in bowling and remained active in that sport as long as his health permitted. He also loved music, enjoyed singing and was an excellent violinist. His health began to fail in the past few years and on April 18, 1972 he entered the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn. On December 18 of this year he fractured his hip and was taken to Lincoln for surgery. The following Monday he was returned to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. It was there that he passed away early Thursday morning January 1, 1976, having reached the age of 86 years, 5 months and 25 days. He was preceded in death by his parent, three children, and by six of his brothers and sisters. Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Sophia, at home; daughter, Avis Beth Jennings, Colorado Springs, CO.; son Adolph Carroll Harms, Longmont, CO. sister, Mrs. Helene Mullally of Los Angeles, CA. brother, Walter W. Harms of Auburn; son-in-law, Ivan Mac Jennings; daughter-in-law, Doris Harms; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
