FRUENDT Henry Fruendt, well known resident of Victor and a retired farmer, died suddenly at his home early Tuesday morning. Mr. Fruendt had not been in the best of health for some time, but was able to be down town Monday. During the afternoon he suffered an attack of asthma to which he was subject, but medical aid brought relief and during the course of the evening he seemed to be as well as usually and retired in good spirits. His wife being bedfast, an electric call bell was placed at her bed, so that she could call him in the night if necessary, and an extension of the line ran to their neighbor A. D. Park's residence. About 4 a.m. Mrs. Fruendt ran her bell but there was no answer. Again at the bell was run with no response and Mr. and Mrs. Park and their son, Roy went to the house to see if help was needed. The house was locked and entrance had to be effected through a window. They found Mr. Fruendt lifeless on his bed, although he had evidently just passed away a short time before. Apoplexy was the cause of his death. Heinrich Fruendt was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, on July 10, 1851. Here he grew to manhood and was married in March, 1876 to Miss Catherine Diehn. Three children were born to them in Germany. Feeling that the United States offered greater opportunities, Mr. Fruendt and family emigrated to this country in 1880, coming to Lincoln Township, Iowa county. Mr. Fruendt rented a farm for a time, but his industry and thrift soon enabled him to purchase land of his own. He added to his holdings and at the time of his retirement - 15 years ago - he was the owner of 369 acres of good land. Since quitting active work, he and his wife made their home in Victor. He was highly esteemed for his rugged honesty, his native good sense and other desirable traits of character. Mr. Fruendt is survived by his widow, six children, all of whom live in the community except one son. They are Mrs. Minnie Smith, Mrs. Freda Wiedemeier, Henry, Herman and John Fruendt, and Gustav Fruendt of Gutherie, Okla. There are 27 grandchildren. The funeral was held his afternoon, with services at the residence at 1 o'clock and at St. James Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Rev. Wm. Bartz, the pastor, spoke words of comfort from the text in Hebrews 13:14. The church was filled to its capacity with friends who paid their last tribute of respect. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
