Description	:	Henry Kemper was one of the earliest pioneers to come to this part of Nebraska in 1869. Other church founders included: his brother, William, Gerhard Bruning, Herman Bruning, Henry Kortmann, Ubbe Danekas and Renke Busboom. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Henry Kemper Dead Another old settler passed away Monday when Henry Kemper died at his old homestead on West Blue at the age of 75 years. The funeral was held from the home on Wednesday afternoon, the services being conducted by the pastor of the West Blue German Congregational church. Interment took place at the church cemetery where a long procession of friends and relatives followed to pay their last respects. The West Blue band took part in the services at the house playing "Nearer My God to Thee." A wife and nine children, two daughters and seven sons, remain to mourn his loss and to them the News extends the sympathy of the entire community, which knew and respected the deceased for his many virtues. Henry Kemper came to Nebraska from Germany in the year 1868, settling on Salt Creek, east of Crete, where he lived for about one year. From there he moved to West Blue, there taking up the homestead upon which he lived until his death. He was a pillar of the West Blue German Congregational Church, an institution which he practically founded and upon which he expended much time and money to perfect. He donated and planted the many trees surrounding the church and cemetery and labored constantly to beautify the premises. He was a man of sterling qualities and loved and respected by all who knew him. May he rest in peace and receive the reward due him in the great beyond.
