Description	:	Ida and Henry Kemper were among the earliest pioneers to come to this part of Nebraska in 1869. They lived briefly with the Bernard & Mary Hayes family before settling near Dorchester. Their children were: Helene, Emma, Henry Jr., Otto, Amelia/Emilie, Louie/Ludwig, Carl/Charley, Elfrieda, Benjamin, John and Walter. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Obituary Mrs. Ida Kemper, nee Naber, was born November 15, 1851 in Neuengeseke Westfalia, Germany. On April 15, 1866, she was confirmed by Pastor Winkler. She was married to Mr. Henry Kemper on the 4th of May, 1869. In June of the same year they came to America and settled in Nebraska. This union was blessed with eleven children, two of them, Helen and Emma, died in infancy. Mrs. Kemper was a member of Ev. Friedens church, West Blue, since October 25, 1874. She joined the Ladies Aid Society in 1900. Her husband passed away January 9, 1911. Since that time she made her home with her son Benjamin. During the last years she felt the weakness of old age. Nevertheless she could be up and around most of the time. Two weeks ago she suffered a light stroke and grew weaker very rapidly. An attack of pneumonia and heart failure were the cause of her death. She passed away January 15, 1927, at 11:40 a.m., reaching the age of 75 years and 2 months. She leaves to mourn her death nine children, twenty-seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; two sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, (two daughters-in-law preceeded her in death, Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Ben Kemper.) There are many other relatives and friends mourning her departure. The survivors of the immediate family are Henry Kemper of Fremont, Nebr.; Otto, and Mrs. Emilie Fette of Dorchester, Nebr.; Louis of Crete; Charles of Seward, Mrs. Elfrieda Wickenkamp of Crete, John and Benjamin of Crete, and Walter of Fairmont, Nebraska. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, January 17, at one o'clock from the house and then from Ev. Friedens church, Rev. G. H. Krueger, officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Six of Mrs. Kempers sons served as pallbearers. From the Seward Journal, published Thursday, January 20, 1927, page 4, column 4.
