Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. The Rev. Morach, retired pastor of the Zion Congregational church, Rev. L. Gaiser, former pastor of the German Methodist church and Rev. R. D. Decker of the Methodist officiated. After a long illness which confined him to his home, Mr. Thiel died last Saturday at 8:45 a.m. He had been a resident of Adams county since 1883. Mr.Thiel was born March 23, 1856, Kolb, Russa. At the age of 20, he came to the States and settled in Nebraska, where in 1880 he was married to Anna Elizabeth Bauer who died in 1894. In 1882, with the other Thiel's, Rosenoff's and Bauer's, he came to Walla Walla where he remained until the spring of 1883, when he settled on a homestead four miles west of Rtizville. In 1895, he was married to Ida Banditt Stuelke of Sprague, who died in 1934. Mr. Thiel moved to Rizville and retired in 1902, having lived here since. He is survived by three daughters, Miss Ruth Thiel; Mrs. Will Schafer and Mrs. A. C. German, all of Ritzville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were all grandsons; Joel, Harold, Gilbert and Robert German, Everett Schafer and Lawrence Thiel. The following served as honrary pallbearers; George Kanzler, John Kanzler, Fred Rosenoff, Henry Rosenoff, Jacob Schoessler Sr., and Jacob Kieh.
