Description	:	Helen A. Mitchell, daughter of Spencer N. and Mary Ellen (O'Meara) Mitchell was born in Schuyler County on August 9, 1903. She passed away at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa on Wednesday, May 12, 1993. She was eighty-nine years of age. Helen grew up in Lancaster and graduated from the Lancaster High School. She was also a graduate of the Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, now called the Northeast Missouri State University. Following her graduation she taught school briefly. Mitchell, daughter of Spencer N. and Mary Ellen (O'Meara) Mitchell was born in Schuyler County on August 9, 1903. She passed away at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa on Wednesday, May 12, 1993. She was eighty-nine years of age. Helen grew up in Lancaster and graduated from the Lancaster High School. She was also a graduate of the Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, now called the Northeast Missouri State University. Following her graduation she taught school briefly. She then became employed as a bookkeeper for the Travelers Hotel for a time and then was empoyed by the late Dee Riley Funeral Home until her retirement because of her poor health. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. She also held memberships in the Business and Professional Women's Club of Kirksville; was a past 50 year member and Past Worthy Matron of the O.E.S., a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Kirksville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Thomas E. Mitchell. Surviving are; her sister-in-law, Alice Mitchell, with whom she made her home for the past several years, when she was not confined to the hospital or Care Center, and one cousin, Mrs. Kathleen Johnson of Queen City, MO., other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. Officiating the services will be the Reverend Glen Lochhead, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Organ selections will be played by Maxine Elschlager. Pallbearers will be Richard Starrett, Paul Welsh, William Johnson, Paul Applegate, Len Small and Jim Conner. Interment will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 1993 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri 7-9:00 p.m. Memorials are established for the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
