The Nebraska Signal October 17th, 1929 page 2. ALSO: Helen Adeline Bates was born October 21, 1848 in New York. She passed from this life to the beyond October 16, 1929, at the home of her son, Charles Pittard, where she was cared for the last few weeks of her life. Her age was 80 years, 11 months and 25 days. She moved with her parents to Milwaukee, Wis., where she grew to womanhood. November 17, 1877, she was united in marriage to John Pittard at Sussex, Wis. From there they moved to Nebraska in 1879, and settled in the vicinity of Geneva, where they lived until June, 1900. They then moved to Friend, where they have since resided. At the age of ten, she became converted and later joined the Baptist Church and always lived the life of a devoted Christian. To this union was born one son, Charles. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, son Charles and wife; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, George Bates of Waukesha, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. Bess Bishop of Chisholm, Minn., and Mrs. Louise Brink of Forestville, N.Y.; a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the Charles Pittard home in Geneva Township at 2 p.m. Friday, October 18. Rev. Harold C. Capsey officiating. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
