Helen attended school at District 25, Trinity Parochial School, District 10, Snyder High and graduated from Scribner High in 1934. (Engelbrecht) Duerst was born to her loving parents Louis Friedrick Heinrich and Maria M. (Hoge) Engelbrecht on Thursday September 28, 1916 in rural Scribner, Dodge County Nebraska. Helen attended school at District 25, Trinity Parochial School, District 10, Snyder High and graduated from Scribner High in 1934. On Thursday December 3, 1936 Helen was united in marriage to Orvin Duerst at the Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Scribner. The couple were blessed with two daughters over the years of their marriage. Helen was a farm wife and spent her lifetime as a resident of the Scribner area. Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran until the church closed in September of 1986, then became a member of St. Peter Lutheran of Scribner. Sadly Helen passed on Thursday November 26, 1998 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home of Beemer, Cuming County. Helen was 82 years, 1 month, 29 days which does not include her last day, she lived a total of 30,009 days. Helen's funeral service was held Sunday November 29, 1998 with Pastor Donald Brunner officiating. Brenda Lamberty was the organist. Helen was interred in the rural Scribner Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Helen's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory.
