Description	:	Death came Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock to one of the good and lovable mothers of the county when Mrs. Andrew Garst died at the Mercy hospital in Elwood, where she was taken Friday morning following an illness of nearly two weeks with what developed as a severe cold and finally developed into spinal meningitis. From the time she was taken to the hospital, it was apparent she could not recover from this dread disease and as far as it is possible members of the family and the wide circle of her friends were prepared for the worst. Mrs. Garst took a heavy cold two weeks ago and an infection developed in tho ears, then, meningitis developed in the spinal column and medical science could not bring a recovery. The body was taken to Young's funeral home for preparation. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. John's Catholic church, with burial in St. John's cemetery. Mrs. Garst who was a devout Catholic, was Helen Caroline Ripberger and was born east of Tipton, December 12, 1886. Her parents were John and Rosa Ripberger, pioneers of this community. She was one of seven children in the family. Matt and Ralph, brothers, are deceased, and surviving are John, Mrs. Tillie Ferguson, Pauline, and Emily, all of this city. She was married 1923 to Andrew Garst, who survives with three children, Mary, Joseph and Louis, at home.
