Description	:	Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Scott Denny, 91, of Pilot Mountain, widow of Curtis Holmer Denny, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Village Care Nursing Center in King. She was born in Guilford County on May 24, 1918, to the late Worth B. Scott and Mecie Stanley Scott Hall. Mrs. Denny was a member of Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church for 50 years. She retired from the Surry County Schools after 30 years. Read More	Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Scott Denny, 91, of Pilot Mountain, widow of Curtis Holmer Denny, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Village Care Nursing Center in King. She was born in Guilford County on May 24, 1918, to the late Worth B. Scott and Mecie Stanley Scott Hall. Mrs. Denny was a member of Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church for 50 years. She retired from the Surry County Schools after 30 years. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Billie and Jean Denny of Davis, Okla., and Wayne and Carol Denny of Pilot Mountain; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe Davis of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and spouses, Curtis and Kristin Denny of Prosser, Wash., Shanna and Kevin Thomas of Euless, Texas, Rick and Wendy Penn of Sherrills Ford and Brooks and Stacey Penn of Cary; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Lisa and husband, Warren Bailey of Winston-Salem. Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are one daughter, Donna Lynn Denny; and two brothers, Dewey Scott and Rex Hall. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Raiford and the Rev. Arthur Livengood officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, J.W. Denny, 257 Burge Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Denny family.
