Read More	Another noblewoman has been called "Home." Seventy-eight years ago there was born in East Dennis to Samuel and Lydia C. (Hall) Chapman, a daughter, Helen Frances Chapman, a descendant of the prosperous pioneer, Ralph Chapman of Duxbury. Early giving evidence of attractiveness and brilliancy, after attending the public schools in her community, Helen Chapman was enrolled at the young ladies' finishing school, popularly known as Thayer Academy, in South Braintree. Upon her return to the place of her birth, the Chapman home became a social center. Her birthplace is of special interest. Samuel Worden bought the land on which her home was later built, from the local Indians, and deeded that land to Isaac Chapman in 1696. Since then it has passed through seven generations of the Chapman family. In 1907 Helen F. Chapman was married to a promising and prosperous young lawyer, Bert E. Holland, now Judge of West Roxbury District Court. They have kept the homestead and occupied it summers, but have maintained a year-round residence in Jamaica Plain where Mrs. Holland was an active and influential member of the First Church (Unitarian), a member of its Woman's Alliance, and of the Tuesday Club, often serving as hostess. She also held membership in the Dartmouth Woman's Club, Inc. Mrs Holland died August 11, in the home where she was born and married. A memorial service was conducted in the East Dennis home on Tuesday with her former pastor, Dr Frank O. Holmes, officiating, assisted by the Rev John Wingett, D.D., a long-time friend of the family. Interment was in Dennis. Mrs Holland is survived by her husband and several cousins. (Yarmouth Register, Friday, August 18, 1950; Section: Front page, Page: 1)
