DACHENBACH Helen Irene Dachenbach, youngest child of Clement and Edith Dachenbach, was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Topeka, Kansas, and passed away in a Milwaukee hospital March 25, 1941, aged 19 years, 1 month and 25 days. In June, 1940, Irene graduated from the Wauwatosa high school. During her years in high school it became her ambition and determined purpose to futher herself for future usefulness as a dietitian. In the autumn after graduation she entered Ripon College at Ripon, Wisc., where her new life began most auspiciously. These were happy days for her until the first of March when she was overtaken by the illness that resulted in her death. Three weeks before her passing she was taken to her home and there entered the hospital. The gravity of her condition was realized at once and in spite of everything that loving hands and hearts could do, and her own courageous fight, she steadily grew worse until Tuesday morning at 7:15 when the brave spirit slipped away. Irene was a member of Wauwatosa Methodist church and for a year and a half she was secretary of the Beginners' department of the Sunday school. In high school she was a member of the A Capella Choir, a signal honor. At the time of her death she was pledged to the Kappa Sigma Chi sorority at Ripon. From childhood, Irene's capacity for leadership was evident and through her short life, her ability was recognized in her school life and in her church life, and during the few short months in college she had made for herself a warm place in the hearts of her instructors and classmates through her genial, happy, unselfish nature. It was one of Irene's greatest joys to spend her vacations throughout her life with her grandparents and Aunt Helen in Lucas County, and during these visits she made many friends who truly sorrow with her loved ones at this time. She leaves to mourn her departure her parents, one sister, Florence, who teaches in Kewauskum high school, and one brother, Wilbur, at student at Iowa State college at Ames, besides many other relatives. Funeral services, conducted by her pastor were held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Milwaukee. The remains were brought to Williamson, Iowa, where other services were held at the home of her aunt, Miss Helen Dachenbach, with Rev. Archie Beals in charge. Burial was in the Zion cemetery. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
