She was born Aug 11 1904 in Homer the daughter of Frank E and Ella (Collins) Deming. On June 9 1928 she was married to Leslie T Whitney in Homer and lived on their farm near Tekonsha for nearly 20 years. She graduated from Homer High School in 1922 and attended various colleges in Staltillo Mexico, South Dakota and Minnesota Besides Hillsdale College and Western Michigan University where she received her degree. Mrs Whitney taught for 37 years , 20 of which were in Homer Community High School where she was Social Science and Foreign Language teacher, retiring in 1964. She was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary for many years, the WSCS and a life member of the MEA and NEA. Surviving are her husband, a daughter Mrs Jack P (Virginia C) Warner of Battle Creek, two grand daughters, Loretta and Marla Whitney and a sister Mrs William (Ruthella) Olney of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by a son , Gerald W Whitney and a brother Donald C Deming. Friends were received at the Tidd Funeral Homer where services were held Monday at !:30 with the Rev E L Sutcliffe officiating.
