Description	:	Helen I. Taylor, 92, of Longmont, formerly of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Longmont. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 14 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Lew Champ officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Helen was born on June 17, 1922, in Rhodes, Iowa to John Blair Roush and L. Fern (Richeson) Roush. Helen was born on June 17, 1922, in Rhodes, Iowa to John Blair Roush and L. Fern (Richeson) Roush. Her father being a school principal, she grew up in several Colorado towns and graduated from Laird High School in 1939. She graduated from UNC in 1946 and furthered her education at CSU and CU. She taught school for several years in Haxtun, Wray, Kit Carson, and Crook. She then worked as a Media Specialist for Northeast Colorado BOCES until her retirement in 1984. Helen married Robert E. Taylor in Sterling on September 3, 1948. They continued living in Crook with their children, Mark and Lori, until moving to Sterling in 1978. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the First Christian Church and a past member of Frida Wilson Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post #20 Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Riverview Ladies Golf Association. She was a past state president of the Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary. She enjoyed many activities: traveling, watching the Broncos, playing bridge, golfing, reading, crossword puzzles, but most of all, her family, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, son, daughter and fiancé, two grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, two brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many special friends [survivors names omitted]. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John B. Roush; nephews Jim Roush and Kim Roush.
