Read More	The Dayton Review August 9, 1906 TWO SAD DEATHS This community was deeply saddened last Thursday by the report that in a runaway on the Brundage hill near Lehigh, two children of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Johnson, north of town, were thrown out and killed, and that Mrs. Johnson and their other two children had been seriously injured. It was indeed a sad tragedy, and all sympathize with the afflicted parents in the sudden loss of their darlings. It is not surely known just how the accident originated. It is thought that some part of the harness gave away, letting the spring wagon down on the team. The dashboard gave away also, and threw Mrs. Johnson and the two younger children down under the team. The two older children remained in the buggy until the team struck a bridge at the foot of the hill, where they were also thrown out. Mrs. Johnson and the two remaining children are getting along as well as could be expected, though they are badly bruised up. Esther Johnson, the elder of the two fated little ones, was born September 21, 1901, being aged 4 years, 10 months, 10 days at her death. Helen Johnson was born September 13, 1903, hence was 2 years, 10 months, 19 days of age. They were bright little children, and their loss in the family, where the ties of love were indeed strong, is deeply mourned. Two little chairs are vacant where once was the joyous prattle of childhood, but their memory will ever be cherished until the day of the glad reunion of the better land. We trust that all wise creator may sustain the afflicted family in their sorrow. Stratford Courier August 9, 1906 TWO KILLED IN RUNAWAY Mrs. Axel Johnson and Children of near Dayton In Runaway at Lehigh Mrs. Axel Johnson and four children, while driving down the Brundage hill near Lehigh, Thursday, the tongue on the spring wagon dropped to the ground, causing the horse to run away and throwing the inmates to the ground. Two of the children, Esther, 4 years old, and Helen, 2 years old, were killed almost instantly. The mother and other two children were badly bruised and injured and for some time no hopes were held for the mother's recovery. The sad accident has cast a gloom over the entire community.
