Description	:	Helen J. Yaden, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was a resident of Danville. She was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Elnora to the late Evert and Serena Park. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School. She was employed as a switchboard operator in Mooresville and also for Cincinnati Bell and Indiana Bell telephone companies, retiring in 1980 after 31 years of service. She was involved in many activities such as Girl Scouts of America, Civil Air Patrol and Hendricks County Civil Defense. Yaden, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was a resident of Danville. She was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Elnora to the late Evert and Serena Park. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School. She was employed as a switchboard operator in Mooresville and also for Cincinnati Bell and Indiana Bell telephone companies, retiring in 1980 after 31 years of service. She was involved in many activities such as Girl Scouts of America, Civil Air Patrol and Hendricks County Civil Defense. She volunteered thousands of hours instructing first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the American Red Cross from 1963 to 2000, was the first Red Cross licensed female emergency medical technician in Indiana and was a nationally registered licensed EMT first responder with Indiana State Police and REACT. She volunteered with shelter management for Indiana University, taught basic police procedures through Civil Defense, was a certified firefighter of Brown County and a mentor for Medstar and served on the Indianapolis Red Cross Health and Safety Board. She was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of Mooresville and was a member of the Cooties, Sugar Grove Home Economics Club, Rebekah and Ladies Encampment IOOF (PNG). She received many awards: The Rose Sussman Award, George W. Peak Award in 1980, The Jefferson Award in 1990, Plainfield Women's Club Woman of the Year in 1992 and Hats Off National Award in 1995. She also wrote the "Black Rock" column in the 1930s. Survivors include her four children, Priscilla Alexander of Mooresville, Fredrick E. Yaden of Indianapolis, Thomas E. Yaden of Martinsville and Wanda L. Yaden of Plainfield; a brother, Raymond M. Park of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Martha Morris of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry E. Park. Burial will be at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
