REESE, 93, of 1729 Wabash Ave., Rochester, died at 8:26 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born on Oct. 31, 1914, in Rochester, the daughter of Charles Clarence and Geneva Almira (Stinson) Wylie. She attended Burton Jr. High, Columbia Jr. High and graduated from Rochester High School. On April 23, 1939, in North Manchester, she married Harold L. Reese. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2002. Mrs. Reese worked as supervisor of the Rochester City Park playgrounds from 1937 to 1939 and was employed by Rochester Telephone Company for more than 38 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a founding member of the Hand Bell Choir, Morning Quest Circle, Women's Guild and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Manitou Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, founding member of the Home Front Club, Red Cross volunteer, and the Fulton County Historical Society, where she had held office. Mrs. Reese and her husband, Harold, were co-grand marshals for the Round Barn Festival parade in 1994 for recognition of their numberous hours of community service. She enjoyed flowers, plants, sharing gardening with others, bicycling, reading, music and being active in community affairs. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine and husband Mark Smith, Indianapolis; grandson, Jack Gregory and wife Cyndi Daulton, Lenoir, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Gregory Daulton and fiance' Amber Mullett, Lenoir, N.C., Noah Daulton, Winston-Salem, N.C., Leslie and Logan Arnold, Lenoir, N.C.; stepgrandsons, Bob and wife Melissa Gilliland, Mooresville, David and wife Paula Smith, Indianapolis; stepgreat-grandchildren, Rob and Beth Gilliland, Mooresville, Melissa and Maggie Smith, Indianapolis; and several neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ward Wylie, and sisters, Mary Bowen and Mildred Basler. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Revs. Maurice Grindle and George Hapner officiating. Friends may call from noon until the funeral time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Fulton County Historical Society.
