Description	:	Helen LaVerne Graves was born in May 23, 1922 at Fairfax, South Dakota to Norman and Caroline Pauline (Bechtold) Graves. On February 26, 1941 Helen married Delbert Lee Sharp at Valentine, Nebraska. Delbert and Helen worked around Naper, NE on ranches when they were first married. They then moved to Valentine where they lived most of their life. Helen worked at Jordan's, Van Horn's, Pine View and the Home Cafè. Helen was a very hard worker. Read More	Helen LaVerne Graves was born in May 23, 1922 at Fairfax, South Dakota to Norman and Caroline Pauline (Bechtold) Graves. On February 26, 1941 Helen married Delbert Lee Sharp at Valentine, Nebraska. Delbert and Helen worked around Naper, NE on ranches when they were first married. They then moved to Valentine where they lived most of their life. Helen worked at Jordan's, Van Horn's, Pine View and the Home Cafè. Helen was a very hard worker. She loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her friends. Helen was very strong willed. She would say, "No I don't need help, I can do it myself." When she was teased, you always received a big smile from her. She always thanked you and blessed you when you came to visit her. Helen passed away December 14th, 2002 at Pine View Good Samaritan Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Lee (Skinny Sharp), Infant son and brother Jack Graves. Helen is survived by her daughter Joy Mechling of Valentine, grandchildren, Crystal, Woodrow, Caroline and her great grandchildren. Also surviving is stepbrother Roland Hart of Elgin, Nebraska, dear sister-in-law Dorothy Graves of O'Neill, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Memorial service for Helen Sharp was held Wednesday, December 18th at Chapel of the Pines in Valentine. Rev. David Householter officiated at the 2:00 service. Inurnment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of the arrangements. Valentine Midland News (Valentine, NE), December 25, 2002
