She departed this life on March 10, 1988 at the age of 85 years, three months and five days. On May 27, 1951 she was united in marriage to Matthew Eugene Shore. Daughter of Lincoln Grant Dachenbach and Florence Luella Shore OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 17, 1988 WALLACE Helen Lovetta Wallace, daughter of Lincoln and Florence Shore Dachenbach, was born on Dec. 5, 1902 in Pleasant Township, Lucas County, Iowa. She departed this life on March 10, 1988 at the age of 85 years, three months and five days. On May 27, 1951 she was united in marriage to Matthew Eugene Shore. They made their home in Williamson until Gene's death on Jan. 27, 1959. On July 26, 1962 Helen married Alex Wallace. Alex passed away in 1963. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Orrie, Clement, George and Joe, who was killed in World War I. Helen taught school all her working life. She spent her early teaching career in the country schools in Lucas County. She taught at the Williamson School for many years and upon its closing taught for a short time at Underwood. After that she taught in the Chariton School system, spending most of that time at the Garfield School until her retirement in 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chariton. She leaves to mourn five step-children: Mrs. Hugh Smith of Chariton; Mrs. Caroline Hill and Mrs. Ruth Lebow of Amarillo, Texas; Manuel Shore of Des Moines; and Mrs. Betty Marie Nichols of Payola, Kans. Survivors also include nieces Marlene Vandenberg of Grant, Neb.; Florence Nelson of Columbia, Mo.; Illa Gardner, Waukee; Lola Mantich and Betty Dachenbach of Omaha, Neb.; nephews Warren, Lowell and Billy Dachenbach of Chariton; and several step-grandchildren and cousins. Helen will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Fielding Funeral Home Saturday, March 12, 1988 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ronald Stein officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Smith, Clayton Smith, Lee Dachenbach, Lynn Dachenbach, Larry Dachenbach and David Dachenbach. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
