She graduated from Fort Hays College and received a Kansas teacher's certificate. She married Kenneth Hurd on July 8, 1941 at Quinter. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Business of Professional Women, a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Superior, which later became Grace and Community Evangelical Free Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Wayne, Beatrice; a daughter, Mrs. Brian Stranghoner (Margaret),Wichita; four grandchildren; a brother, Dean McElroy, Overland Park, and sisters, Jean Harms, Tacoma, Wash., and Lucille Malsbury, North Platte. Services were held Wednesday from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, with Pastor Jim Gaar officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
