Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Donald Buhrman will officiate. Read More	GREELEY — Helen T. Nordhues, 97, of Greeley died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Greeley Care Home in Greeley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Donald Buhrman will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Greeley. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements. Helen Theresa was born April 22, 1916, at Brayton to Clarence L. and Anna C. (Larkin) Purdy. She was raised in Greeley County, where she attended Reed Country School and graduated from Greeley Public School in 1933. Following graduation, Helen worked at the ASC office and for Judge Scott in the Greeley County Court. On June 15, 1942, Helen was united in marriage to William L. Nordhues at Greeley. The couple resided and raised their family of ten on a farm southwest of Greeley. Helen worked as a CNA at the Greeley Care Home from 1971 to 1988, when she retired. Mr. Nordhues passed away in November 1988. Helen then moved into her home in Greeley and later spent her last years at the Greeley Care Home. She was a member of the Greeley Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America No. 2039 and the Altar Society. She was a homemaker and also enjoyed sewing. Survivors include six sons and four daughters-in-law, William J. "Smokey" of Greeley, James L. and Claudine of Hoschton, Ga., Raymond E. and Laurie of Greeley, Thomas J. of Strasburg, Colo., Robert J. and Jeanette and Alan M. "Mike" and Daletta, all of Grand Island; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Anne M. Samson of Elkhorn, Rosemary and Charles McManus of Greeley, Donna M. and Jay Sanders of White City, Kan., and Marlene J. and Mike Pritchard of Spalding; 37 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Maxine Whittle of Sumter, S.C., Edith Nordhues of Greeley and Dorothy Koenig of Spalding. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cyril, Cletus and John Purdy; two sisters, Evelyn Fullen and Ethel Happ; a grandson, Brian T. Nordhues, a son-in-law, Milo Samson, and a daughter-in-law, Joan Nordhues.
