July 16, 1914 - Henry Starman, a well known farmer of Roselle township, died at his home a few miles south of Carroll, Sunday, July 12, 1914, at 3:30 p. m. The cause of death was heart trouble from which he had suffered for several years. He had seemed somewhat better of late but took a sudden turn for the worse Sunday and death ended his sufferings that afternoon. Mr. Starman was born in Germany, August 26th, 1859, and came to this country in 1880, being 21 years of age at the time. His parents followed him to America in 1881. The mother died December 3, 1909, and the father September 29, 1913. Henry was married about 26 or 27 years ago in Roselle township to Miss Anna Foecke. To them have been born 14 children of whom 13 are living, one having died in childhood. The names and residences of some of the children are as follows: Mrs. Raterman, of Butte, Nebraska; Herman and Elizabeth, of Elgin, Nebraska. The other ten children are still at the parental home. The deceased has two brothers, Gert and Barney, living in Nebraska, and one brother, Theo., and two sisters, Mrs. Overmoehle and Mrs. Rotert, live in Roselle township. During the 34 years in which the deceased has been a resident of this county he has been known as a good industrious man and a faithful member of the Catholic church. He was a good neighbor, a loving husband and father and always ready to help others. He was also a member of the Roman Catholic Mutual Protective Society. The funeral was held at Roselle, July 15, at 9 a.m. The members of Branch 33, R. C. M. P. S. attended in a body. Mrs. Starman has been sick for two or three years, most of the time being confined to her bed. We all hope that she may be spared to her children and restored to health.
