While spending three and one-half weeks at Excelsior Springs, Mo., where she was receiving treatment, Mrs. Rotert suffered a stroke a little more than a week ago. She was brought back to her home last Thursday. Funeral services are set for 9:30, a.m. Monday at Holy Angels church, Roselle. The Rev. Fr. Bernard Montag will offer the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 8 o'clock tonight at the Sharp Funeral home here. At 2 p.m. Saturday, the body will be returned to the family residence, where the rosary, led by the Rev. Fr. Montag, will be recited at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Rotert was born Bernadina Elizabeth Starman November 9, 1876, at Ankum, Germany. In 1882 she came to the United States with her parents, Henry and Catherine Starman, who settled at Bellevue in northeast Iowa. Coming to Carroll county in 1884, Mrs. Rotert had lived in the Roselle community since then. Her marriage took place February 21, 1895, at Holy Angels church, with the Rev. Fr. Frey officiating. In 1945, Mr. and Mrs. Rotert celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with all of their children home for the occasion. Immediately after their marriage, the couple moved to a farm one and one-half miles east of Roselle where they lived until their retirement in 1943. At that time they moved into their present home in Roselle. Mrs. Rotert is survived by her husband & nine children; 28 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her children are: Mrs. Ben Meiners (Catherine), Dedham; Henry Rotert, jr., Churdan; Mrs Anton J. Hoffman (Elizabeth), Glidden; Joe Rotert, Lidderdale; John Rotert, Carroll; Mrs. Joe H. Grevlng (Anna), Carroll; Johanna Rotert, at home; Mrs. Lawrence Haverman (Mary), Carroll, and Bernard Rotert, Carroll. She also leaves two brothers: Theodore Starman, Roselle, and George Starman, Elgin, NE., and one sister, Mrs. George Overmohle (Elizabeth), Carroll. A son died September 16, 1916. She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
