Her obit. states that she was born in 1893, but the stone says 1892. The entire community was saddened as the news of the death of Mrs. Geo. W. One article I have seen, says she had a fifth birth, which caused Henrietta' early death along with her baby. Henrietta Fredericksen was born October 15, 1893 in Manning, Iowa and died at her home northwest of Burke, S.D., October 25, 1927, at the age of 34 years and nine days old. She moved from her birthplace at Manning, Iowa, with her parents to Fort Randall, S.D., when five years old and has spent many years of her life in Gregory county. In 1914, she was married to George W. Fish of Gross, Nebr., and to this union four children were born, two girls and two boys. The deceased leaves behind to mourn her untimely death, a husband, four children, her mother and father, four sisters and one brother who have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss. The funeral was held at the Grace Lutheran Church in Burke, with interment in Graceland Cemetery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gross Centennial Book: George Fish was born at Manning, Iowa in 1881 and died in 1930 at age 49. He had five sisters and one brother. Henrietta was born in 1892 in and died in 1927 at the age of 35. Henrietta was the daughter of Henry and Kathryn Fredrichsen and was born in Manning, Iowa. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Wausa, Nebraska and later to Ft. Randall. In 1914, she was married to G. W. Fish of Gross. In this short wedded life of thirteen years, they were the parents of four children. Evelyn Hume, George, Jr., Arlene Gaily and Henry "Hank". The birth of a fifth child caused Henrietta's early death along with her baby. Three years later, the father, George W. died of an infection that caused blood poisoning. George and Henrietta farmed near Burke, SD for several years. After their deaths, the children came to live with relatives near Gross. Evelyn lived with Chick and Hannah Sinclair; Kenneth with John and Kate Patterson; Arlene with grandparents, Henry and Kathryn Fredrichsen; and Henry with John and Anna Cassidy. George W. was a hired hand for Gene Parsons in the very early years on the same place his son, Henry, now owns and lives near Gross. Also, John U. Connot, father of Annie Fish, wife of Henry Fish, worked at the Gene and Ida Parsons homestead farm as Gene was an auctioneer and horse trader. Both men were single and worked at the same time, never to realize their children would marry and own the Parsons farm.
