Mr. Butts passed away suddenly at his home in Riverside, October 23. Death was due to a heart attack. The remains were brought here Wednesday, accompanied by his wife. Born in Iowa, September 23, 1881, the third child of William and Amanda Butts, he came to St. Lawrence at the age of 18, and spent most of his life in this vicinity. He was married June 8, 1904 to Caroline Danburg, and six children were born to them. Mr. Butts engaged in business in St. Lawrence for several years, then the family moved to a farm north of that town. He continued farming until Mrs. Butts' illness necessitated retiring and they moved to Miller, where Mrs. Butts passed away in 1944. Later, he was married to Mrs. Minnie Dixon, and they made their home in Miller for a short time, and then moved to riverside. Surviving his death are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Danielson, Riverside, Calif., Mrs. J.W. Joy and Mrs. Cecil Sessions, St. Lawrence; two sons, Harold, Omaha, and Cecil, St. Lawrence. Another son, Percy, passed away six weeks ago. There are also four brothers, one sister, four step-daughters, and four step-sons.
