His 2nd marriage was to Flossie M. Thompson on August 25, 1934 in Grundy Center, Gundy Co., Ia. Flossie and Henry had no children together. Flossie and Henry had no children together. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery Obit from the Marshalltown Tr: Henry A. Essen 90, 816 North 4th ave died Sunday morning at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1875 son of George Essen and Katherine (Rush ) Essen, and spent his entire life here. He farmed in this area and was later the fireman at the courthouse, retiring 10 years ago. His first marriage was to Lillie Thompson on Feb. 25, 1900 in Marshalltown and she preceded him in death. He later married Flossie Thompson on Aug. 25, 1934 at Grundy Center, Iowa. She survies with a daughter, Mrs Chester Prescott of Marshall town, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. Anna Tanyer, Mrs Cora Wolken, Jake and Carl Essen all of this city, Mrs Mary Adams of Miami Fla. and Claude Essen, Cresco. One son preceded him in death. Mr Essen was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Service will be at 1:30 pm. Tuesday at the Persel Davis Chapel with Wayne Christensen in charge. In evidence of his product Essen exhibited at the courthouse friday two string beans of the perfect letter "Vs" At the same time, more V- shaped potatoes were reported at Gilman. Denver Walker of the Walker and Sons General Store reported that five V- shaped potatoes have been found in sacks which were shipped from Sahfter, Calf. These potatoes were recived from different shipments, two comming in the sacks opened Thursday.
