Henry Christoph Stelling was born 16 November 1901 at Hooper, Nebraska, to Carl Johann Stelling and his wife Emma (Mosel) Stelling. he died at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 20 days on 5 September 1972 at the Plainview, Nebraska, Hospital where he had been a patient for 10 days after suffering injuries in a farm accident. He was born and baptized at Hooper, Nebraska, living there until the age of five when he moved with his family to Hayward, Wisconsin. In 1912 they returned to Nebraska, locating on a farm south of Orchard, Nebraska. He was confirmed in 1915 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Orchard by the Rev. George Tiefel. He received his education at St. Peter's Lutheran School south of Orchard. On 12 August 1927 he was united in marriage to Isabella Wegner at her parents' home near Ewing by the Rev. O. E. Schlecht. Their first home was located south of Orchard, later moving to a ranch north of Ewing, Nebraska. In 1935 they moved to Page, Nebraska, living there until 1941 when they returned to Orchard. Mr. Stelling was very active in both church and community affairs. He held various offices in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Orchard, as well as being county supervisor at the time of his passing. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Carl and Elmer and a sister Louise. Surviving him are his wife Isabella, five daughters, Arlena (Mrs. Bob Bergman), Elgin, Nebraska, Alys (Mrs. William Kruger, Jr.), Clearwater, Nebraska, Elda (Mrs. Delmer Pfanstiel), McLean, Nebr., Loretta (Mrs. Marvin Knee), Orchard, Nebraska, and Mary Elaine Stelling of Norfolk, Nebraska, one son Richard Stelling of Orchard, Nebraska, three sisters, Hermine (Mrs. Herman Wieting), Orchard, Nebraska, Christine (Mrs. Jack Carter), Whittier, California, and Lorine (Mrs. Vernon Harley), Fairmont, Minnesota, and three brothers, Emil of Norfolk, Nebraska, Chris of Orchard, Nebraska, Erhardt of Aurora, Colorado, also 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and a host of relatives and friends.
